John has been working in Fitness since July of 1995! He started as a Group X Instructor and then became a Personal Trainer in 1998. He has been working in Fitness Management since 1999. John’s greatest pleasure in his work in Fitness is helping others become comfortable with working out and exercise and helping them to Help Themselves in achieving their goals and Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle. Fitness and Health is a journey that you must make a part of your life and learn to enjoy! Fitness comes in all shapes and sizes. John’s main focus with clients is for them to be happy with themselves and to be able to enjoy the activities in their daily lives. This could be simply picking up their grandchildren without aches and pains or completing their fitness goal of completing a Marathon.
Tamara is an AFAA certified Personal Fitness Trainer (2011) and specializes in individualized training focused on sports performance, full body conditioning, and core strength. She works with clients to achieve goals and enjoy designing a fitness program to improve athleticism, get fit, tone, lose weight, and feel great. As a 4.5 tennis player with a background in triathlons, swimming, and running, Tamara loves to play and compete.
Tamara is a Richmond native and a UVA Graduate with certifications in TRX, Indoor Cycling, Yoga, and Pilates. Don’t be afraid of your swimsuit! Set goals, do the work, and be proud and confident.
Deanna is an AFAA certified Personal Trainer, AFAA certified Group Exercise Instructor, and Registered Nurse. She began her career in 1994 teaching group exercise, then expanded her knowledge and career and became a certified personal trainer in 1998. As a former gymnast and dancer she trains clients in full body, functional workouts that incorporate a variety of equipment and modalities. She enjoys working with clients to help them achieve strength, increased mobility, knowledge, and a love for health and wellness. Deanna’s goal is to also teach clients that working out can be fun and to help them understand the relationship between strength and mobility and it’s impact on their daily lives. As an RN she is comfortable and experienced working with clients with chronic disease and wants to help them achieve their best life while living with their chronic disease.
Deanna earned her BS in Biology from the University of Mary Washington, her Associates in Nursing from J. Sargeant Reynolds, is a certified cycling instructor, is currently working on her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training, and works part time as a Cardiac Rehab nurse.
On a personal note Deanna is an avid runner and yogi as well as “a work in progress” cyclist and hiker. She enjoys being a mom to four children, walking her dog, meditating, and any activity outside.
Chris is a Veteran that specializes in developing people mentally, physically and emotionally. He is a Home Fitness Training Specialist and a Certified Personal Trainer recognized by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the National Council on Strength & Fitness, the Home Fitness Professionals Association and the National Personal Training Institute. He also have certifications in Basic Nutrition, Kettlebell Training and TRX (Suspension Training). His passion is driven by the opportunity to help others reach their goals and exceed them! With a background in dance, yoga, and a lifelong passion for health and exercise, she works with each client to create a customized work out plan to keep them motivated, having fun, and excited to reach their goals. Along with her personal training certification, she is also certified to teach group fitness classes and yoga.
